This variety of Sumatra Mandheling exhibits all the qualities you would anticipate -- low acidity, hints of bitterness balanced with sweetness, bourbon-like complexity, herbal undertones, spices, and a smooth, rich profile, without any mustiness, finishing with a wonderful lingering aftertaste. It's grade 1 Sumatra, but don't think that means the beans will appear attractive.
Sumatra coffee is naturally among the easiest to roast; it is extremely forgiving and offers such a full body that you can brew a good cup regardless of your roasting method, though going too light (pre-2nd cracks) may result in some unusual roasted green pepper flavors.
Store in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. Grind fresh before brewing to enjoy the full spectrum of flavors.
